Hi
Just taking some time out from planning for my new Tutoring Role to write my first blog post as part of Rudai23.
I never really appreciated before, the amount of time and preparation that goes into a Tutoring Role. As a student, the Tutor shows up with their PowerPoint slides, handouts and their knowledge on the topic and you dont really think of the time and effort that must have went into preparing for that session.
I secured my first tutoring role recently, starting this academic year, and have spent that last few weeks preparing lesson plans, continuous assessments, PowerPoint presentations and gathering together resources to help me teach the topics. It has definitely giving me a lot more respect and consideration for the Tutors I've had myself over the years. While it feels a bit overwhelming at the moment with the amount of work I feel I still have to do to fully prepare, I know that my efforts will be well worth it in a few weeks.
I will be starting my 4th year in college myself at the same time I am starting my new Tutoring Role so I definitely dont want to leave myself in the very stressful position of trying to prepare and do my own course work at the same time. Also the work I'm putting in now will stand to me in the long term as if everything works out like I hope it will, I will have all this body of work to pull on for next year and my preparation for next year wont take so much time.
After more than 10 years in Sales working as a Business Development Representative, I'm looking forward to this new challenge, a complete change from what I'm used to and hopefully that start of a new career and chapter for me.
I spotted this quote from Steve Jobs while putting together all my PowerPoint Presentations.......... Ha!!
Kind Regards,
Philip
